Please see below the chairman's letter:

Dear Member,

It is with great sadness that I’m writing to inform you of the decision taken at the last AGM of T.B.A.S.C. to dissolve the club.

With regret, the decision was made as a result of there being not enough nominations for committee members to carry the club forwards. The decision was not made as part of a vote or agenda, but followed from an inability to fulfil the requirements laid out in both the Club Constitution and that of the A.S.A.

In accordance with the Club Constitution, a sub committee was formed to facilitate the closing of the Club and to dispose of the assets in line with sections 14.1, 14.2, 14.3 & 15.1 of the Constitution.

As a result of the last membership period coming to an end in December and no new memberships or session fees having been taken, no action will be necessary from you as a member.

It is to be remembered that Troutbeck Bridge Amateur Swimming Club has been in existence for the past 40 years and was started as a result of the pool being built at the Troutbeck site. Previous to this, the Windermere Swimming Club, who swam in the lake at Millerground, was the roots of the club, extending the clubs history even further. Windermere Swimming Club amalgamated with T.B.A.S.C. and our modern history began. Some of the cups and trophies are a part of the history of the Windermere and Troutbeck area.

I would like to close this letter with the acknowledgement of all those who have, over many years, served T.B.A.S.C. both in the water at competitions (from club galas to national galas) and on the side as Coaches, Referees, Timekeepers, Judges, Administrators, Assistants and not forgetting enthusiastic supporters. Clearly, without those people, the Club, as is evidenced by this letter, would have closed long ago. It is also to be remembered that T.B.A.S.C. participated in Synchronised Swimming and Open Water Swimming to a very high standard, and many of the cups and trophies belong to these disciplines and are part of the very earliest activities of both T.B.A.S.C. and Windermere Swimming Club.

Should you have any questions or comments regarding this closure, please contact Joe Booth on 07946544057 or via and I will try to answer.

Many thanks for your time and consideration and I wish you all the best for the future.

Joe Booth
